Weekly Message and Homework #8

• There are only 3 weeks until the end of the trimester and Thanksgiving break. Where has the time gone? 

• Start working with your child every day to memorize the multiplication facts. We have been working on: X0,     

        X1, X2, X3, X4, X5, and X10.

• Here are some good sites for math worksheets, flash cards you can print out, puzzles, tricks and online

• Information about the next book report is coming home Monday in the Homework Folder. Book reports are

        due Wed. Nov.22. I chose this date so you would not be working on it over Thanksgiving break. If you feel

        extra time would be helpful and you want to work on it over vacation, email  me and you can return it

        Monday, Dec. 2. 

• Our first service project for the year will be Wednesday, Nov. 13th. We will be collecting completed shoeboxes

       for Operation Christmas Child. Shoeboxes will be coming home on Monday. Inside the box will be a list of 

       suggested gift items. If purchasing items does not fit into your weekend and you’d rather build a box online

•     We are also asking for $10 to help Samaritan’s Purse with the shipping costs. If you would like to make this

• At the bottom of the message is a copy of the suggested items list.

• Don’t forget to turn in last week’s homework, the quilt, paragraph and family tree, if you have not already

        turned it in. 

• Students should not bring toys from home. They cause distractions and can lead to problems in the class as

        well as at recess.

• Thank you to the Quinones, Alexopoulos, Lee, and McDermott families for their donations to the Halloween

        party.

• There is no school next Monday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veteran’s Day.

                                        Homework

                  Each night:

o study the spelling, vocab, and memory verses.

o any incomplete class work that comes home should be completed and returned the next day.  

o read for 20 minutes. 

o complete 40 minutes of IXL each week.

o Practice the multiplication facts with your parents.

o Each night complete one Tic Tac Toe square.

o Homework is due on or before Friday.

 

 

Spelling Homework Tic Tac Toe  

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night choose one 

square for your spelling and vocab homework.

You must choose a different activity each night. On Thursday 

night your homework is to complete the middle square in preparation for Friday’s test.

Homework is due on or before Friday.

 Do Not Include

Candy; toothpaste; gum; used or damaged items; scary or war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.
